What to do if you
have symptoms of Covid-19
You are reminded that if you have any symptoms
of Covid-19, you need to self-isolate, (stay in your room/stay at home) and
phone your GP or one of the MTU (Cork campuses) Medical Practices below straight away.
The doctor will advise if you need a Covid–19 test. Please
note that other people in your household will also need to restrict their
movements (stay at home) until you get the results of your test. If your test is
negative, and people in your household are symptom free, they no longer need to
restrict their movements. If your test is positive, they will need to
self-isolate, have a test (which will be arranged by the contact tracers) and
follow public health advice.
If you are unwell you must not come to the University or leave your
accommodation until you are deemed fit to do so.
The University continues
to work closely with public health authorities. Due to patient confidentiality,
MTU cannot disclose details of individual
cases or particular locations. Anyone who is deemed a close contact will be
contacted directly. A dedicated support network is already established by the University and is in
place for any students and staff who may need assistance.
Please note that all Covid-19-related consultations are free of charge,
however whichever practice you call you are asked to have your PPS number
There are also wider supports available on campus should you wish to avail
of same. Please go to: https://covid19.cit.ie/important/contact-details-for-student-services-and-supports-date-10th-february-2021
