Dear Apprentice,

Following extensive discussions with SOLAS a schedule for return to on-campus training has been agreed for all Term 2 craft apprentices in MTU. Unless there are changes to current health guidelines and restrictions your on-campus training will resume from Tuesday 6th April 2021. Again, public health circumstances permitting, the on-campus training (including assessments) should be completed by Friday 28th May 2021.

A phased return is being organised and your class timetable with your actual start time will be forwarded to you when the details are finalised. Please continue to check your MTU email on a regular basis for any relevant updates.

MTU does not have any information on the arrangements being put in place with your employer. Employers will need to contact your Training Advisor, ETB or SOLAS if they have any questions. Should we receive any information we will share it with you. The email contact point for SOLAS is apprenticeship@solas.ie

The safety of all apprentices and staff is a primary consideration and we ask for your cooperation in this regard. Prior to returning to campus all students must complete an on-line induction and health self-declaration. Details will be forwarded to you when they are finalised. The following are the main points to be aware of while on campus –

·       Face masks are mandatory and must be worn at all times on campus

·       Social distancing requirements must be followed at all times

·       No congregating in common areas such as corridors, canteen, car park etc.

We look forward to the return to on-campus training from 6th April and to the completion of this phase of your training.

In the meantime, keep safe and enjoy the good weather.

Regards,

Michael Hourihan,

Head of Centre of Craft Studies,

MTU (Cork Campus)
