• Step 1: Get a Microsoft Team set up for your Department 
  • Fill out this Form or email servicedesk@cit.ie with the name of your department and a member list (if there is a distribution group with all the names that will do) 
  • Once this team is set up it will be blank 

  • Therefore you will be able to collaborate, host video conference calls, webchat, create and share new content but this does not contain any documents from any legacy fileshares you may be using (which may be fine for now) 

  • If you need to move content from your legacy fileshares then proceed to step 2 

  • Step 2 (optional): Transferring Your Files into Microsoft Teams/SharePoint 

 

  • Navigate using the Windows file explorer to where the files that need transferred are located

  • Open the MS Teams app and select the Channel you would like to move the files to. 

  •  Click on the “Files” tab in the channel to open the file section

  • Select any files you would like to move (e.g., by clicking and dragging a box around them)

  • Click, drag and drop the selected files from the file explorer to the Files section in Teams

  • The files will be copied into the Team

  • To view/edit the files within SharePoint, click “Open in SharePoint”
